This one-day ski tour is an excellent introduction to Avalanches Awareness. Throughout the day you can expect to travel anywhere from 2-6 miles in distance (4-10km) and gain an elevation of 1000-3000ft. (300-900m). Learn route finding, as well as snow & hazard evaluation. Prior to departure, your guide will review your equipment and advise you on the location of the course. This will be determined according to current snow and weather conditions. On arrival at the trailhead, you will receive instruction on the use of avalanche transceivers and participate in an exercise demonstrating their capability. During the day course Instructor will go through:
- Rescue Practice of a Mock Avalanche
- How to properly dig a snow pit and evaluate snow stability
- Route Finding & Terrain Evaluation
